The Challenge: 110 Miles to Make Memories

This September, Mark, the father of young Alfie, who is bravely fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), will take on the Cleveland Way, a grueling 110-mile ultramarathon over three days. Mark’s journey will traverse the beautiful Cleveland Way National Trail, passing iconic spots like Scarborough, Robin Hood’s Bay, and Whitby.

Mark won't be alone on this incredible challenge. Our very own Gump and a group of dedicated friends will join him, running a half marathon each day to help raise awareness and funds. Our goal? To purchase a new caravan for Ruddi’s Retreat, allowing more families facing childhood cancer to enjoy a much-needed holiday together.

Alfie’s Story: A Beacon of Hope

Alfie’s journey began in April 2021 with a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Since then, he has shown remarkable courage and strength, enduring countless treatments while still managing to attend school and return to his football club. His sister Emily, too, has been a pillar of support, facing the challenges of having a sibling with cancer.

Throughout their journey, Ruddi’s Retreat provided Alfie and his family with much-needed moments of joy and normalcy through their respite breaks—moments that are priceless when facing such a challenging path.
